After the war they both worked with Vickers to convert a Vimy to be able to undertake the long flight

the Royal Air Force had to find a replacement for the Canberra and Hunter types

This aircraft first flew from Boscombe Down in 1954, piloted by Roland Beaumont. During its third flight WG760 achieved supersonic flight.
