Statement from Christopher Anderson
Florida Ira nowinski and the context from whichFirst edition of Florida by Walker Evans. First impression. Medium format hardback in fine condition. About A collection of 54 photographs of Florida taken in 1941 by Walker Evans for Karl Bickel's "The Mangrove Coast". Evans's photographs of decaying architecture, crowded streets, retirees, trailers, and views of the winter home of the Ringling Brothers circus were at odds with Bickel's popular text that featured pirates, explorers and moonshiners.
