Eja beads are altered (heated up and then squashed flat) Venetian beads from the mid-late 1800s that were primarily traded in Nigeria

These beads are very worn and some have chips and crack which is not all that uncommon (see photo)

One side is engraved and painted with various numbers and symbols for the game Mahjong. Made in China of bakelite. 31mm x 22mm; 12mm thick. Sold as a set of seven.
