The RAF and FAA purchased the F4J and redesigned it with the Rolls-Royce Spey turbofan
It was introduced to the USAF in April 1953 and was the USAF's first operational supersonic jet
The stripes were painted only on fighters
The type was eventually replaced by the Britten-Norman Islander
The design is available in either white or dark grey
