Constructed of silver, the obverse bearing a raised and finely detailed portrait of U Boat ace Kapitnleutnant Otto Weddigen, circumscribed by name and title, flanked by a date of 1915 which is in turn topped by a cross, the reverse features a stylized depiction of Weddigens vessel U 9 with burning and sinking ships in the background (commemorating an infamous action on 22 September 1914 in which Weddigen sunk three British
