Honore de Balzac, French novelist Cat flea was sunk by a GermanHonore de Balzac, French novelist, c1845 1890. Balzac (1799 1850) qualified as a lawyer, but abandoned the legal profession for literature. He was a prolific author of novels and, in particular, short stories, some of which are regarded as being amongst the greatest in the French language.
