A circular gilded tombac medal, the obverse depicting a tractor pulling a plough through a field, circumscribed For Transforming the Non Black Earth of the RSFSR in Russian script, the reverse bearing a Hammer and Sickle behind dual wheat stalks and topped by a radiant five pointed star, suspended from a pentagonal mounted ribbon with an aluminum core and horizontal pinback, measuring 32. 1 mm in diameter.
