Do not pre wash. 100% cotton Finished size approximately 12" x 12". The design is printed on one half of the sampler. The other half of the sampler has instructions which will wash out. You can stitch through both layers for a little heavier fabric if using it for a quilt square or you can stitch through a single layer and add your own backing. In Japan, the samplers are stitched through both
