Constructed of bronze, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together by duals coats of arms of the Kingdoms of Austria and Hungary, topped by an imperial eagle clutching a banner bearing an inscription of KUK LUFTFAHRTRUPPE, with a central pilot wearing a flight cap and goggles, the reverse with a period replacement retaining pin, unmarked, measuring 58. 89 mm (w) x 63. 35 mm
