The cuffs of both arms bear sleeve insignias constructed of gold bullion representing the rank of Captain in the Imperial Japanese Navy. Down each breast lays six gilded bronze buttons beside six reinforced buttonholes, allowing the wearer to close the coat on either side. All buttons on the coat are engraved with a fouled anchor and cherry
