Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a raised propeller, anchor, and edelweiss, representing the Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine, and Gebirgsjger, respectively, topped by an inscription of NARVIK and a German national eagle perched on top of a wreathed swastika, affixed with all attachment prongs to a zink backplate with a field grey wool liner indicating Heer (Gebirgsjger) issue, unmarked, the shield
