The 2009 Larrivet Haut-Brion feels a little pinched on the nose

but it is balanced by the wine's freshness and energy

Just stays the right side of oak influence – the sweet vanilla character is apparent but not overt

This was aged in French oak for about 18 months

Gerard Mugneret, Echezeaux Vintage:2016 Patience required(from Les Quartiers de Nuits). An admirably subtle application of wood frames the overtly spicy aromas of plum, cassis, black cherry, sandalwood and Asian style tea wisps. The textured, concentrated and impressively powerful medium bodied flavors possess fine volume thanks to the copious amount of sappy dry extract that imparts a velvety mouthfeel to the delicious finish that tightens up quickly on the moderately austere and highly persistent finish.
