The style and the amount of gilding lost make me think it is pretty old

with some foxing to the upper right corner especially

many of them from old school science departments

and with a steel post attached to one front leg should one want to stand him outside the front door for a bit to keep an eye on things

and do hope this might find its way to a young backyard choreographer

And something about the look on his face makes me think was his sweetheart who took the picture, perhaps just before saying bon voyage! 5 7 16" x 3 1 2 and in very good condition, unused back. C. 1920s I believe.
