Heygate was Alderman for Coleman St Ward from 1812-1843 and Lord Mayor in 1822-1823

For some years this was the residence of William Hogarth and was one of the few houses that escaped the Great Fire of London in 1666

A donkey eats a lettuce whilst two urchins offer leaves to the horse

dates from 1520

with fishing vessels grounded on the shore and figures
