Thayer is a well-known name in these parts

as I've seem a few with a similar sort of standing armature holding a rotating dowel at center

Riders sit about 6" tall measured up from base

This pair is heavy enough to hold up even the heaviest row of art books--or perhaps  ideally a bunch of tomes about self sufficiency

One might expect this to be a trinket box, but the underside is sandpaper for striking, so I believe it was meant for matches which defines our
