as I do really love a stone carved book--or a book-shaped anything-- and good ones don't cross my path all that often

which is divided into sections to separate each size of comb

6 5/8" w x 5 3/8" d x 7 1/4" t and heavy for its size

I think the self-referential pen and ink drawing on this antique French postcard is pretty fabulous

with just a single chamber

Seems to me the side with the hunting dog came first, made as a print block, but then someone decided to carve this face of a child (with marvelous collar!) into the wood on the reverse side not to be printed, but just as a carving. A quite a skillful carver they were, so beautifully done, with the face looking perhaps Native American, or Inuit, to me. A bit mysterious feeling, and
