These were traditionally made by members of the Smi or Saami culture, indigenous Finno Ugric people inhabiting northern Norway, Sweden, Finland and the Kola Peninsula, historically known in English as Lapps or Laplanders who used birch bark for everything from boxes to buoys. This one would have been made for the tourist trade, 1st
