Yup'ik Northwest Coast Native American Lidded Coiled Grass Basket Oisin Kelly sculpture I purchased the piece fromThis is a very lovely vintage Yup'ik (Northern Alaska Native American) coiled and lidded basket, mid 20th century I believe. Handwoven of beach grass, with dyed red and green grass used for the snake like decoration, repeated four times around the perimeter of the basket. There is a nice warm patina to the grass, and I especially love the topple, a signature of Yup'ik baskets. A wonderful addition to a collection of baskets or simply a beautiful thing
