It's big and chunky--16  1/4" inches long when stretched out and 1 5/8 inches wide and deep --and the ball makes a nice rattle in its cage when shaken

and I’ve priced it accordingly)—not visible if turned around

or the two short ones were opposite ends of one piece and the longer one has lost a link on the opposite end

or of course it could also be incorporated into game night

My guess is that it dates from the late 19th century or so

If so, they are long gone, but the ones that remain are pretty fun, and nicely carved, showing off quite a variety of skills! One end of the corkscrew like section is no longer a complete loop, but is tightly tied to the next piece with the string hardened, perhaps with some old glue, and would take some work to get apart.
