and so feels to me more like a consolation trophy than the winning one

And I presume that whoever added that photo was the same person who added the wire stand to the back, turning the wirework advertising trivet into a handy and great looking standing frame. The photo was unremarkable so I pulled it out and low and behold! C. 1910 20, constructed
