Hosta Essence of Summer Variegated Foliage Plants (aka: Iris cristata 'Merle's Wine')Hosta 'Essence of Summer' is a tetraploid version of Hosta 'Warwick Essence', which is a hybrid of Hosta sieboldiana 'Northern Halo' and Hosta plantaginea. The 20" tall x 3. 5' wide clump is composed of rounded blue green, slightly corrugated foliage. By the time the stalks of fragrant white flowers emerge in mid summer, the foliage wax has melted, and the foliage turned green.
